Former Chateau Kamiya wine-making facilities (Office) (Ushiku Chateau main building) is an important cultural property designated by the government and the stage for "Japan Heritage: the 140-year history of Japanese wine." The chateau carried out a special event, as part of the Japan Tourism Agency's Tourism Restart Project (government-subsidized project), where you could experience Living History (a program to experience living history).
The Wine Culture Japan Heritage Council held a dinner party in the main building of Ushiku Chateau, which is usually closed to the public, as an event to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Ushiku Chateau. The dinner was a modern version of a wine party that was held 110 years ago, inviting the elder statesmen and important persons such as Itagaki Taisuke, a Meiji Era(1868-1912) leader who devoted himself to the establishment of the National Diet. A special guided tour was also held during the nighttime after the closing of the Ushiku Chateau.
A "CLUB TOURISM FIRST" bus designed by Mitooka Eiji was also operated on the day for guests from Tokyo to enjoy the "extraordinary" experience.
The Wine Culture Japan Heritage Council (Ushiku City) will continue to make efforts to utilize the Ushiku Chateau, a Japanese Heritage component cultural asset, for dining together, events, and filming as requested by customers.
Please contact us for any requests or inquiries about guided tours for dinners, events, filming, etc.
