It is said that this winery started when Yoshichika Aruga, the first head of the Aruga family (which was operating raw silk fiber business), began making wine in 1937. After that, his winery merged with the Kanayama Joint Winery Cooperative, which was then renamed Kanayama Wine Co., Ltd. Later it became the present Katsunuma Winery Co., Ltd.
