Haramo Wine Co. Inc. was founded in 1924 by the Furuya family. They had been engaged in growing grapes for generations, when the grandfather of the present president, Shintaro Furuya started making wine. The company's name, "Haramo", is a word coined by combining the old name of the area where the company is located with the initial syllable of the grandfather's name.
